about us

Our mission

Our mission is to empower women, Our approach is by raising awareness on Gender Based Violence (GBV), using theatres, TV documentaries, cartoon animations, community radio, and magazines. Based in Koutaba, Noun Division of Cameroon, Awa Women Africa (AWA) raises awareness, advocates, and engages communities in addressing barriers to girls’ education and forms of GBV (Physical, sexual, emotional/psychological, and socio-economic). This includes rape, domestic violence, forced/early marriage, child exploitation, abuse, confinement, harassment, Intimate Partner Violence (IPV), social exclusion, and sexual exploitation.

To continue documenting the stories of survivors and using them for advocacy, informing and educating the community, and influencing policies. We require additional tools and resources. These tools and resources will help us reach out to more women and children, give them platforms to share stories and let the community contribute to denouncing and combating Gender Based Violence.
