We Work to Promote the Rights of Women and Girls
Awa Women Africa (AWA) is an initiative that uses participatory communication approaches to raise awareness on Gender Based Violence (GBV), using theatres, TV documentaries, cartoon animations, and magazines. Based in Koutaba, Noun Division of Cameroon, Awa Women Africa (AWA) raises awareness, advocates, and engages communities in addressing barriers to girls’ education, and different forms of GBV (Physical, sexual, emotional/psychological, and socio-economic). This includes rape, domestic violence, forced/early marriage, child exploitation, abuse, confinement, harassment, Intimate Partner Violence (IPV), social exclusion, and sexual exploitation.

Women Empowerment
We’re dedicated to empowering women through diverse skill sets. For those with a passion for fashion, we teach the art of sewing, enabling them to create their own clothing and, in turn, self-reliance.
Simultaneously, we recognize the power of storytelling, offering guidance in creating short films and clips, opening doors to the world of entertainment. We also provide training on electronic devices, expanding their knowledge and helping them harness the full potential of these tools.
Our goal is to equip these remarkable women with skills that foster self-sufficiency, artistic expression, and technological proficiency. By nurturing their talents, we’re not just transforming lives; we’re laying the foundation for a future filled with opportunities and growth.
